We are now hiring for... Position: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with Certification in a Primary Care discipline Schedule: One Day per week; 8 Hours per day. (Regular day to be determined.) Location: Buncombe County Detention Center, Asheville, NC Pay Rate: Starting at $64.00 per hour; rising commensurate with experience Responsibilities: Conduct History & Physicals (H&Ps) for assigned patients Assess and treat acute/chronic medical problems and provide direct patient care in a correctional setting Write appropriate orders, including controlled substances, as medically appropriate Perform emergency, lifesaving procedures during emergent situations Notify supervising or collaborating Physician of any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct Physician consultation Practice safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods Document promptly and properly Help educate patients about their condition (if any) and treatment Respond to requests from security staff and MEDIKO staff; observe rules and regulations, and chain of command at all times within the facility Provide on-call services as assigned by the facility and/or company needs Qualifications Active state license as Physician Assistant or APRN/ARNP with Certification in a Primary Care discipline Must hold--or be willing to obtain DEA registration Hold current/active CPR/BLS certification prior to start date (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved) A few benefits of choosing to practice with MEDIKO...
